Hellohello!
Hope you’re all making a good start to the festive booozy season…I’m currently holed up in rural Yorkshire writing my shivering little socks off with a pan of mulled wine on the go. It’s all very Withnail. Without the randy bull in’t top field.
ANYWAY! Here’s a little Christmassy gift for ya…A free download of a new song we recorded during our album sessions that didn’t really fit with the feel of the rest of em. Maaan. It does however feature some epic guitaring from the brothers Samuels!
Peace.

We’re well chuffed to be able to tell you that on 7th July we’ll be back at the Camden Barfly for our own headline show. After the great time we had there with The Xcerts last month we can’t tell you how much we’re looking forward to it!
Here’s part 1 of a 2 part short film made by I regular collaborator Mark Duggan.
Some words from the man himself…
Own Worst Enemy is a three-minute music video set in present day Manchester and contains cameos from every member of You Animals, as Terence J Corbett plays a man in the final stages of a mental breakdown.
Background:
Mark Duggan (dir. What A Shame Lorraine) first conceived of a film that depicted the breakdown of a reckless, womanising, middle-aged man who abuses alcohol in 2009. However, the story became so complex that that the director eventually decided to create a two-part film, ‘Own Worst Enemy’ and ‘You Left Your Heart in the City’. This unique project is designed to bend our expectations of genre, as short film and music video become entwined in a narrative that could just as easily have become a feature
The second part of the project takes the form of a 9-minute short film, entitled ‘You Left Your Heart in the City’. Featuring the You Animals track of the same name, part two takes the audience back in time to reveal the protagonists destructive relationship with his wife and follows him back through to the present day, in which we delve deeper into his negligence. Nostalgic and heartfelt, part two is a stand-alone piece that will also enhance the audiences understanding of Own Worst Enemy.
You Left Your Heart in the City, a labour of love for the director, is set to be screened at film festivals in the near future but for now enjoy the first part, Own Worst Enemy.
